Entry, exit, lots and lot size — gross P&L, estimated charges at discount-broker rates, net P&L, and return on the margin you deployed.

Futures gain or lose point-for-point with the underlying — no time decay, no IV. What the point math hides is leverage: a NIFTY lot controls roughly ₹18 lakh of index with under ₹2 lakh of margin, so a 1% adverse move costs about 9% of your margin. The "return on margin" figure this calculator shows cuts both ways.
Charges are estimated at discount-broker rates (0.03%/₹20 brokerage, 0.05% STT on sell (since 1 April 2026), exchange charges, GST, stamp) — the same card TradeDiary's charge engine uses. Futures are also marked-to-market daily: your broker settles the P&L in cash every evening, which matters for margin planning even when the trade eventually wins.
Stop calculating trade-by-trade. TradeDiary imports your trades from Zerodha, Groww, Upstox, Dhan & more, and tracks these numbers across your whole history.

Every evening the exchange settles that day's price change in cash. A position 100 points against you debits 100 × lot size from your account that night — even if the trade recovers later. Keep buffer beyond initial margin.
Work backwards from risk: if your stop is 80 points and you risk 1% of a ₹10 lakh account (₹10,000), one NIFTY lot risking 80 × 75 = ₹6,000 fits; two lots (₹12,000) don't. The Position Size Calculator applies the same logic.
