Calculate your winning percentage from wins and losses — then compare it against the break-even win rate your risk:reward actually requires.

A 70% win rate sounds great and a 35% win rate sounds bad — but either can be profitable or ruinous depending on the size of wins versus losses. The only meaningful comparison is your win rate against the break-even rate your payoff ratio requires:
At 1:1.5 risk-reward you break even at 40%; win 45% and you're profitable. At 1:0.5 (risking 2 to make 1) you need 67% just to survive. The "edge margin" this calculator shows — your actual rate minus the break-even rate — is the honest measure of whether your trading works.
Stop calculating trade-by-trade. TradeDiary imports your trades from Zerodha, Groww, Upstox, Dhan & more, and tracks these numbers across your whole history.
Start Free — No Credit Card →There isn't one in isolation. Trend followers thrive at 30–40% with large winners; option sellers may run 80%+ with small wins and rare big losses. A 'good' win rate is one comfortably above the break-even rate for your payoff ratio.
Common practice is to exclude trades closed within ±0.1R from both counts, since they're risk-management exits rather than outcomes. Whatever you choose, be consistent — and let your journal do the counting.
Not from one month alone. Win rate fluctuates with market regime even for stable strategies; 20 trades tell you little. Watch the rolling 50–100 trade figure, and change only when the edge margin stays negative across regimes.
