One row per closed trade. You type the white columns; the grey ones calculate themselves.
| You type | The sheet calculates |

| Date, broker, segment, instrument, strategy tag | Gross P&L: (exit β entry) Γ qty, reversed for shorts |
| Side (Long/Short), qty, entry, exit | Net P&L: gross P&L β charges |
| Planned stop | Risk βΉ: |entry β stop| Γ qty |
| Charges from the contract note | R-multiple: net P&L Γ· risk |
| Mistake tag, why I entered, what I'd do differently | Result (Win/Loss) and month, which feed the summary sheets |
STT, brokerage, exchange charges, GST, stamp duty and the SEBI fee come off every trade. For active intraday and options traders they can turn a profitable-looking month into a loss. That's why the template asks for the total from your broker's contract note instead of guessing: F&O STT rates have changed more than once, and a sheet with old rates overstates your profit.
Open Google Sheets, choose File β Import β Upload, pick the file and select Replace spreadsheet. Every formula carries over. Delete the three grey example rows once you've seen how they work.
A spreadsheet is great for the first few months. It gets painful when you trade several times a week, use two brokers, or need FIFO-matched records for ITR-3. Read our honest spreadsheet vs trading journal comparison, or see how to set up a trading journal template step by step.
Tired of typing trades? TradeDiary imports your Zerodha, Upstox, Kotak, Dhan and other broker files, matches trades FIFO, itemises every Indian charge and builds these reports for you.

Yes. In Google Sheets choose File, then Import, and upload the file. Every formula uses functions that work the same in Excel, Google Sheets and LibreOffice.
Because STT and exchange charges on F&O have changed more than once, and a template with old rates quietly overstates your profit. Your broker's contract note shows the exact total for every trade, so the sheet uses that.
Yes. Pick Futures or Options as the segment, enter quantity in units (lots Γ lot size), and mark option selling as Short. Net P&L, R-multiple and win rate work the same way for every segment.
It gives you a clean trade-wise record with charges, which is what your CA asks for. It doesn't do FIFO matching or compute F&O turnover; TradeDiary does both automatically from your broker files.
